How do I register?
Here are the steps to register online for classes or workshops.
How do I find Seattle Yoga Arts?
We're on Capitol Hill in The Pearl building at 1540 15th Avenue between Madison & Pine.
When should I arrive?
Please arrive 10 minutes (or more, if you'd like) before your class begins. Check-in with reception and he/she will direct you to class and answer questions, take payments, etc. If you are running late, please know you are still welcome! However, please wait outside the class door, or stand quietly in the back of the room until the brief, seated centering and/or chanting has concluded.
What should I wear and bring?
It's best if your teacher can see your feet and knees, so plan to do yoga barefoot and in clothes that are not overly baggy, but comfortable enough for you to freely move. Please do not wear a strong scent to class. Come with an emptyish stomach. All props and supplies are provided.
Can I take off my shirt in classes at SYA?
We actually polled our students about this, and there was overwhelming preference from all our students, men and women alike, that students keep their shirts on while practicing. Shirts on also reduces the transmission of sweat and bacteria to our props, and makes it easier for teachers to make manual adjustments.
Can I take the bus?
King County Metro routes 2, 10, 11 and 12 will all get you here.
Where can I park?
Allow ample time for parking; street parking near the studio can be challenging. At times, it's best to prepare for (and enjoy!) a pleasant 15-minute walk to the studio. Most of the street parking nearby are limited to 2 hours. However, the area on the south side of Madison St (from 19th to 16th Ave), there is more unrestricted parking available and still within reasonable walking distance.
Can children come to class?
Children 13+ are welcome in class, if they are comfortable with and respectful of the yoga environment, which requires the ability to pay attention and to remain focused in their bodies. We are currently looking into child care options at our studio, during a few classes, but it is not offered at this time. Pre-crawling babies are welcome in our Prenatal classes.
