The Anatomy of Breathing

Breath is essential. Yet how often are we breathing effectively? In this workshop we will look beyond pranayama to the fundamentals of breathing. We will explore the anatomy and the mechanics of breathing, the relationship of posture and positioning to breath, the connection of the breath to the nervous system and how to tap into the power of the breath to both revitalize and bring deep calm. We will explore how to evaluate healthy breathing in our students as well as how to identify faulty breathing patterns. Techniques to dismantle faulty habits will be addressedin order to help ourselves and our students enhance optimal diaphragmatic breathing.
