The healing art of Yoga Nidra, or "conscious sleep," is a profound practice for deep relaxation. The systematic and guided process of Yoga Nidra penetrates all layers of being (physical, emotional, energetic, subconscious) to relieve tension and act as a balancing force for challenges of our daily lives. We will begin with 45 minutes of therapeutic yoga, structuring the movement to the needs of those attending class, and finish with a 30 minute yoga nidra practice. With deep rest we are reborn to our joyful essence.

These classes combine the heart-opening philosophy and elegant alignment principles of Anusara Yoga to create a unique prenatal
yoga experience. All classes include asana for optimal alignment and strengthening as well as breath work and meditation. Our intention is to help you cultivate a sense of ease, strength and grace with which to meet the challenges of pregnancy, labor and new motherhood. Classes are tailored to fit your fitness level and yoga background; those new to Anusara Yoga will focus on the basics in the context of pregnancy, while more experienced students will learn to adapt their yoga practice as pregnancy progresses.
Appropriate for all stages of pregnancy; postpartum mothers and pre-crawling babies also welcome.
Have you ever wanted to explore more fully the entire spectrum of yoga history, practices, and philosophies? This Immersion is an opportunity to dedicate a year to deepening your knowledge of yoga in general and Anusara yoga in particular. You will refine your understanding of the Universal Principles of Alignment, explore the Classical and Tantric philosophy underpinning our practice, learn more about the anatomy of your amazing body and enjoy a longer and deeper period of practice including asana, pranayama and meditation. Classes will be a combination of practice, lecture and discussion. Come join a group of curious and excited practitioners as we delve into the beauty and power that is Anusara Yoga.
You don't need to be a teacher or plan to teach to take this Immersion; it is for anyone, at any level of physical practice, wishing to deepen their comprehension in the field of yoga. For students who desire to teach, the Immersion Program establishes a solid foundation from which to skillfully share yoga and is a first step on the pathway to teaching Anusara yoga. It is a pre-requisite for any Anusara Yoga Teacher Training (including the next Teacher Training at Seattle Yoga Arts, which will be offered in 2013).

Yoga is a practice of deep intimacy with yourself. The spark of grace in your relationship with this gift opens up your understanding of the
material and subtle realms of embodied movement and breath, to allow for a deepening experience of the spiritual body. Through the Sacred Anatomy series you will enrich that relationship with increasing allure
and subtlety. Each class will explore and bring to life the energetic and physical anatomy of the focus for that day by examining the physical structures, energetic associations, and how deepening our relationship with each area can enhance our relationship with ourselves and the
practice of yoga. In each class we will incorporate movement, diagrams, partner work, discussion and breath work where relevant.

The practice of meditation is a gift of profound benefit handed down to us by our yogic predecessors. Meditation practice has the potential to create a transformation of consciousness via methods that are
ancient, authentic and time-tested. Through this stable and beautiful practice, you will gain greater access to ease of being, insight,
intuition, well-being, and your own deep well of compassionate heart.
There are many beautiful meditation styles. What you will learn in this series is a meditation practice which utilizes a mantra. Meditating with a mantra is a powerfully effective way to find depth in your practice.

Insight Meditation & the Practice of Compassionate Awareness
with Meg Agnew
Purpose
The intention of this program is to encourage a deepening of our meditation practice and, within the refuge of sangha (spiritual community), to share insights and support for living with wisdom and compassion. We'll begin each of our 12 meetings with a half-hour of meditation followed by an investigation of The Engaged Spiritual Life by Donald Rothberg.
In the author's own words, "This book is about walking a path of both inner and outer transformation. It is...about coming to see that our real work is the same whether we attend to ourselves, our families, to our communities, or to our larger society and ecosystems. This work is to be aware and present to what is happening, responding compassionately to suffering, understanding our interdependence, and acting with grace, equanimity, and passion in difficult circumstances."
Registration
In keeping with the tradition of Theravadan Buddhism, the teachings will be freely offered. Participants are welcome to make a donation (dana) of any amount for the instruction. To pay for the costs of using the studio and its resources, a registration fee of $72 is requested. (Scholarships are available.) There will be no meeting on February 17.
Props
There are folding chairs, blankets, bolsters, mats, and other props at the studio for our use.

Introduction to Insight Meditation & Mindfulness Practice
Insight meditation or vipassana literally means "clear-seeing" It is an ancient wisdom path that the Buddha believed he had rediscovered more that 2,600 years ago. In this meditation tradition practitioners learn how to see past concepts that obscure the truth of reality to have a more direct experience of the present moment. With the development of presence, we discover how to open to our life, just as it is, with acceptance, equanimity and with a growing sense of freedom and joyfulness.

Our natural state is one of health, happiness and an inner sense of well-being. Over the course of a regular life, various things "mess" with that natural balance. We accumulate toxins (physical, mental and emotional), our systems weaken and we are more susceptible to disease. A seasonal cleansing and rejuvenating practice can help restore your natural state of wellness by eliminating toxins and re-balancing the body/mind. A seasonal cleanse is integral to health according to Ayurveda, an ancient art of healing. The transition into Spring and the freshness it has to offer is a perfect time for purifying. Join Erin for this specialized yoga practice designed to safely support digestion, elimination and detoxification. Meditation and breathing exercises will be included to clear mental/emotional toxins.
~ A detoxifying practice will be offered each season.
